  I made a claim with AIA Insurance on my Sunsuper income protection insurance in December 2020. My claim was made following a workers compensation claim that was, and still is, being disputed by my employers insurer.
  I found AIA staff, particularly the admin staff and my assessor, to be professional and caring. They provided excellent customer service and always actioned what they said they would within the timeframes that they said they would. Because I was struggling financially as a result of my situation this was very important to me. It helped to provide some clarity and gave me something that I could rely on.
  I made a point of providing all documents requested as quickly as possible, including providing copies of my payslips. This seemed to make the process go quicker.
  I do note that some of the forms that were sent to my treating medical practitioners and myself were not titled correctly, and referenced a claim for Total Permanent Disability instead of Income Protection. This created some confusion and resulted in some small delays as I followed up with AIA and treating professionals.
  I am currently in receipt of regular monthly payments from AIA while I am on a return to work program.
  My advice to anyone making a income protection claim is to check in with AIA consistently and regularly, and to provide all requested information as quickly as possible.
  I believe that my Income Protection policy with AIA was good value and it was easy to set up through my Sunsuper superannuation account.
  My claim took just under 2 months to be approved.

  negative stars if possible, my mother's insurance premium was increased 400% with no notification. Employees were friendly, just business practices are very questionable. Stay away from these scammers.

  Disgrace.
  
  21 years and never a claim. I have trauma cover and wanted to claim on a trauma.
  
  My medical condition even has the word trauma in it.
  
  15 seconds it took them to say you can’t claim on that particular trauma.
  
  As always insurance companies are ripping their customers off.
  
  Policy has now been cancelled.

  AIA life insurance is very bad with payment to client, always set red taps trapping client in the procedure so that they can delay the payment to client. Their call centre is extremely difficult to get a human voice, always take more than an hour in the phone queue. Their hub email is just like a dead letter queue, no one ever responding. There is no other client engagement and communication way. Always using letter for correspondence and extremely slow, make me feel like I am living in 19th century. They hold my final mature payment (over 10K) for more than 4 weeks, even now I haven't received it. I guess that is the way they use free cash flow from client to generate their profit.
  
  A terrible insurance company and super bad user experience. TRY YOUR BEST TO AVOID!

  When you are keen to get the Insurance, they will contact you every single day, even twice a day, at morning and evening. But when you want to cancel they will put you on hold on the line forever.
